About the Team

The first Variety Village Rolling Rebels Wheelchair Basketball Junior team was started in the fall of 1985. Since, we have evolved into a major player developmental program having had many players graduate to the Canadian Men’s, and Women’s National Teams. Throughout the years we have been proud of all our athlete’s achievements maintaining our primary goal of, “having fun”!

The Rolling Rebels offer every athlete the opportunity to play at a level which matches their experience, and level of interest. Our House-league program offers the opportunity to be involved at the introductory level and is scheduled every Saturday morning.

For those who are interested in higher competitive play you can then progress to competition at the Regional level in our Developmental League. This consists of club competitions versus teams located in the Golden Horseshoe area of Southern Ontario.

Variety Village athletes have also been heavily involved at the Provincial and National levels which include the Canadian Wheelchair Basketball League (CWBL) club Championships and the Canada Games. These would be considered Provincial Competitions. For those players with higher aspirations there are opportunities with the Canadian Junior, and Senior Teams who compete Internationally at the World Championships, and Paralympic Games.

Players are encouraged to become involved at the level they are most comfortable. Our coaching staff is very experienced in introducing the sport to athletes from the grass root to higher competitive levels of play.
