Sunshine Swim Team

About the Team

The Sunshine Swim Team is the only Variety Village team dedicated exclusively to individuals with developmental disabilities. We work to ensure that all individuals learn how to swim in a competitive style while having fun. Swimmers are part of a team and are encouraged to be social with both members and staff. Athletes have the opportunity to compete on a monthly basis.

As part of Special Olympics Ontario, the team has well-developed relationships with other competitive teams across the province. Competitions are a fun way for athletes to be active and meet new friends.

About the Facility

Variety Village houses a 40-metre pool, divided into a 25-metre six-lane deep section and a 15-metre shallow section. Each lane has diving blocks. The deep end has two one-metre and one three-metre diving boards.
